
Dr Kathryn Schat, MD
Dr Kathryn Schat is Board Certified Family Medicine and is a hospitalist and Family Medicine Residency Faculty at PIH Downey Hospital. She has hospital privileges at Long Beach Memorial Hospital as well. Dr. Schat worked as a hospitalist at Norton Healthcare in Louisville Kentucky 2012-2018. She was Medical Director and Family Medicine assistant professor at University of Louisville, Centers for Primary Care 2008-2012. Previously she worked as Medical Director of her practice with Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, New Hampshire 2001-2008.
Dr Schat served her country as a Major in the US Air Force and was the Medical Director of the Copper Panel at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Tucson, Arizona. While on active duty, Dr Schat received special training in leadership, disaster medical management, as well as altitude and SCUBA dive medicine.
Dr Schat received her medical training at the prestigious McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Montreal, Canada and a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology at University of California, Los Angeles. Her family medicine training was completed through the University of California at San Francisco and UC Davis.
Dr Schat has a strong and diversified background in ballet and jazz dance and continues to dance and study in both styles. She has worked with individual ballet dancers to maximize their performance and potential. She is a strong and active believer in personal wellness through physical fitness and diet. Her strong background in exercise physiology gives her a unique and holistic view of medicine and overall body wellness. Dr Schat is proud to return home to the Los Angeles County area and offer her services to the local and outlying communities.
