Kathryn Schat, MD
Dr. Kathryn Schat is Board certified Family Medicine and is a hospitalist at Long Beach Memorial Hospital since February of 2019. She has worked as a hospitalist at Norton Healthcare Louisville, KY from 2012-2018. Dr. Schat worked as the Medical Director of the Centers for Primary Care and Ambulatory Care Clinic University of Louisville, KY from 2008-2012 and as the Medical Director of Lakes Region General Hospital outpatient/inpatient Family Medicine office, NH from 2001-2008.
Dr. Schat served her country as a Major with the US Air Force and was the Medical Director of the Copper Panel Primary Care at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base,Tucson, AZ. While active duty, Dr. Schat received special training in leadership, wartime medicine and disaster medical management to include altitude and scuba diving medicine.
Dr. Schat received her medical training at the prestigious McGill University Faculty of Medicine, Canada. She also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology at University of California Los Angeles. Her Family Medicine residency training was completed through the University of California San Francisco and U.C. Davis.
Dr. Schat has a strong and diversified back ground in ballet and jazz dance and continues to dance and study in both styles. She has worked with individual ballet dancers to maximize their performance and potential. She is a strong and active believer in personal wellness through physical fitness and diet. Her strong background in exercise physiology gives her a unique and holistic view of medicine and overall body wellness. Dr. Schat is proud to return home to the Los Angeles County area and offer her services to the local and outlying communities.
